A car with no steering wheel and… no pedals

Toyota are working on a concept car that primarily is targeted at the short distance travel. There’s nothing revolutionary, most manufacturers are working on such prototypes: Subaru has the Stella, Mitsubishi has the i-Miev, Nissan has the Leaf. Now it’s Toyota’s turn to show off it’s new FT-EV II.

Then why am I bothering to mention it? Ah, there’s a catch – this car has no steering wheel, nor does it have any pedals. Control of the car is performed using some sort of joystick, that controls the accelerator, brakes and also used to steer the car.

Obviously it’s all electric, sporting Li-Ion batteries, but can also run from the conventional fuel.

It’s much smaller than iQ, but still can seat four and goes over 60 mi/hr.
